The Algeria–UK Mining Conference

The Algeria–UK Mining Conference, organised by the Algeria British Business Council (ABBC), in collaboration with the Embassy of Algeria in the United Kingdom, took place in Algiers on 13 October 2026.

The event brought together Algerian and British officials, industry experts and business representatives, in the presence of H.E. Ms Karima Taffer, Secretary of State for Mines and Mining Industries, Mr  james Downer, the British Ambassador to Algeria, and Mr. Martyn Roper,Chairman of the ABBC.

The conference provided a valuable platform for discussions on opportunities for bilateral cooperation and partnership in the mining sector, particularly in geoscience, mineral exploration, mining equipment and services, innovation and investment.

With the participation of the British Geological Survey, the UK Critical Minerals Association and companies from both countries, the event highlighted the potential for strengthening partnerships and expanding economic cooperation between Algeria and the United Kingdom.
