Talks at the British Parliament to Strengthen the Economic and Trade Partnership between Algeria and the United Kingdom

The Ambassador of Algeria to the United Kingdom, Mr Noureddine Yazid, held talks with Mrs Yasmin Qureshi, Member of Parliament and the United Kingdom’s Trade Envoy to Algeria, at the UK Parliament. The meeting provided an opportunity to explore prospects for strengthening Algerian-British relations, reflecting the shared commitment of both countries to raising economic cooperation to a level that reflects the full potential and promising opportunities of both countries, while serving their mutual interests.

The discussions focused on ways to develop trade exchanges, encourage investment and strengthen partnerships between business partners, in line with the economic priorities of both countries and with a view to opening up new avenues for bilateral cooperation.

Both sides also emphasized the importance of continuing the Strategic Dialogue as a key framework for steering bilateral cooperation towards broader horizons, with a particular focus on priority sectors, notably trade and investment, energy and renewable energy, mining and minerals, industry, agricultural technology, green economy, as well as digital transformation and innovation.

The two sides also welcomed the positive momentum in the field of higher education and scientific research. They underlined the importance of continuing efforts to develop existing partnerships between universities and academic institutions in Algeria and the United Kingdom, alongside expanding coordination in relation to British schools in Algeria. These efforts are intended to promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise, support skills development and strengthen academic and scientific ties between the two countries.

At the conclusion of the talks, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued coordination and consultation, and to building on the positive momentum in Algerian-British relations, with a view to strengthening the bilateral partnership and serving the shared interests of both countries.
