Ramadan Iftar Celebrating the International Women’s Day with Distinguished Algerian and British Participation.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Embassy of Algeria in London hosted a Ramadan iftar on the evening of Saturday, 7 March 2026. The event was organised jointly with the The Voice of Algerian Women Foundation and was marked by the presence of distinguished women from various fields, including medicine, entrepreneurship, politics, law, engineering, media, and the arts, from both the Algerian and British communities.
The Ambassador of Algeria to London, H.E. Mr Nourredine Yazid delivered a speech highlighting the important place that women have held—and continue to hold—in Algerian society, as well as the vital role they have played both historically and today. He also emphasised the importance of empowering women in order to build a more balanced and equitable world. In his remarks, he further drew attention to the difficult conditions faced by women in conflict zones around the world, calling for greater collective efforts to end their suffering.
Several participants were also invited to speak during the gathering, sharing their professional experiences and success stories, creating an atmosphere of inspiration and mutual encouragement.
The evening featured a selection of traditional Ramadan dishes showcasing authentic Algerian flavors. Elements of Algerian cultural heritage were also highlighted, particularly traditional clothing and handicrafts. The program was further enriched by performances of the classical Malouf Andalusian music tradition.
At the end of the evening, attendees expressed their appreciation for the event and praised the joint initiative of the Embassy of Algeria in London and the The Voice of Algerian Women Foundation.
