The Ambassador of Algeria to the United Kingdom Attends Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding Between El-Oued University and Regent’s University

On Tuesday 28th July 2026, the Ambassador of Algeria to the United Kingdom attended the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Echahid Hamma Lakhdar University (El Oued University) and Regent’s University London, held at the latter's headquarters.
The signed MoU aims to foster cooperation between the two universities, particularly in the field of English language training for academics and researchers.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Omar Farhati, Rector of El Oued University, and Mr. Geoff Smith, Vice Chancellor and CEO of Regent’s University. The ceremony was attended by members of the administrative and training teams from both Regent’s University and the Regent’s English Language School, as well as a number of Algerian academics and researchers currently undertaking short-term internships and English language training at Regent’s University.
In his remarks on this occasion, the Ambassador commended the step taken by the two universities in their bilateral cooperation, noting that it aligns with Algeria’s decision to select the United Kingdom as a primary partner in education, specifically regarding English language training, as part of the comprehensive education sector strategy to adopt English as a language of instruction.
This year, Regent’s University hosted several groups of academics from the University of El Oued, representing various disciplines, who participated in short-term English language training as part of a program designed to train one hundred academics.
The signed memorandum of understanding marks the culmination of significant joint bilateral activity undertaken by the administrations of both universities in recent years.
